Students will submit proposals online through the Student GMS interface. Graduate Directors will select and rank students to represent their program. Final selection of participants will be made by The Graduate School and the GSD Faculty Advisory Committee. Graduate students selected to participate will be notified in early March. A detailed schedule of both the oral research presentations, poster competitions and creative performances will be posted on The Graduate School’s web site about two weeks before the event.

Research Oral Presentation
Entries in this category should be designed and presented in a way so as to be understandable to a generalist. For example, if your research is in the sciences, then it should be understandable to any scientist (and not only to an expert in your field). Oral presenters will have as much as 15 minutes for their presentation followed by 2-3 minutes for questions. Presentations will be scheduled 20 minutes apart to allow for transitions. Winner and runner-up(s) will receive a cash prize.
Research Poster Presentation
Entries in this category should be designed and presented in a way so as to be understandable to a generalist. For example, if your research is in the sciences, then it should be understandable to any scientist (and not only to an expert in your field). Presenters will have as much as 10 minutes for their presentation followed by a 2-3 minute question and answer session. Poster presenters will have a 4’ by 4’ display board upon which to affix their research poster. We recommend a poster size of 3.5’ by 3.5’ to conform to the display board. Winner and runner-up(s) will receive a cash prize.
Creative Performances and Displays
Entries in this category can include art installations, musical performance, dance or theatre performance, readings of creative writing, etc. In the creative performance category, participants will be allotted 15 minutes in which to present their work to the audience (provide relevant background) and perform their piece. Performances will be spaced 20 minutes apart to allow time for transition and set up. Participants in this category will not participate in a competition, but instead will receive an honorarium for their contribution.
